Finally!!! It Took Long Enough!
Thursday, December 10, 2009 at 7:48PM At long last a dedicated e-book reading app has made its way to the Palm Application Catalog! Pompellie Reader (sorry, no dedicated link to be found) hit the App Catalog yesterday and thanks to a poster at Sprintusers.com giving me the heads up I am now in reading bliss on my phone once more. No longer do I have to deal with the Classic App crashing every few pages of a book while reading. This cool little app supports HTML, Mobipocket, Epub, PRC, PDF, and a lot of other formats.
Now it's not a perfect app, not by a long shot, but it is getting the job done. Further it's proof that someone, somewhere is at least working on bringing the functionality to the platform!
On a personal note I have to admit that the lack of ebook reading capability was making me lean towards replacing my Palm Pre a lot sooner than I originally planned to. Now I'm willing to give the platform a little more time to see what shakes loose. Or at least until the HTC Bravo hits Sprint sometime early next year!
