West Point on the Eno River

This past Saturday I was out and about again with my camera and my target destination was the West Point on the Eno park over in Durham.

Here's the link to the photo set over on Flickr.

I grew up in Durham and quite often I would head over to this park with my best friend growing up to hike the trails and just enjoy the place.  The hospital my father worked at (Durham County General back then, now Durham Regional) used to have an annual family day event there and every single year we went to that as well.  Put another way, I have a lot of history with this place and it's all good.

This was the first time I've been out there in over twenty years (DAMN I'm getting old!) and it brought back more than a few memories.  So many memories in fact that I didn't do as much picture taking as I normally do (you should see how many I chuck after a given outting) for the simple fact I kept stopping at various places along the trail I used to hike with Sol to just reminisce about old times.  This one outting did more for my soul than I expected and I left the place happy.

As I said, I grew up in Durham.  After this past excursion I'm thinking I might head back over for a couple of weekends of photo shooting some old haunts.  Instead of picking just one destination I'll probably leave the house before dawn so I can do a lot of "stop and shoot" photography of various places and things that hold special meanings for me.  I already know where I'll start, possibly next weekend.
