Boot Camp

Despite waking up sick (you can check my Facebook page for the gory details) I did manage to do two things today that I had been meaning to.  Try out running Windows 7 on the Macbook via a virtualization software package and via Apple's Boot Camp system.

Out of the two it's pretty obvious which one worked better, at least for now, and that's the Boot Camp option.  Essentially, Boot Camp allows one to boot into either Mac OS or Windows.  It's not rated for Windows 7 yet but I found that the Vista drivers worked just fine and I imagine that once Apple gets around to updating the system with new drivers performance will improve.  I'm going to give it a try for 30 days to see how it works out.  After 30 days I'll have to remove the Windows 7 partition due to activation issues with the OS. 

The virtualization route would probably work better if I had more memory installed in the portable.  Two gigs of memory just aren't enough to run Mac OS and Windows side by side.  Maybe after I double the memory to 4GBs I'll give it another shot.
